Our species is tough, resilient and durable. Human expected average lifespan is over 80 years for most developed countries, together with more centenarians each year. Broadening scientific, biological and health care knowledge is showing us all that there are more components than the easier obvious short term consequences of diet and stress. There are also important (and often subtle) long term outcomes which should often be considered

For example, there is a generally accepted minimum daily Vitamin C intake necessary to prevent scurvy. Once we thought that this minimum amount was all that anyone needed. Subsequent scientific studies showed us that increased Vitamin C intake had significant health and well-being benefits.

If you don’t get any Vitamin C, you will contract scurvy in a few months. The general health cycle for better health from higher daily Vitamin C consumption levels that is measured in years and decades.

There are other, longer-lasting cycles of effects of deprivations of nutrients, antioxidants, phytochemicals, probiotics and others that affect us. These deprivations can lead to diabetes, circulatory problems, heart disease and maybe alzheimer’s disease and others.

We also know now that numerous pollutants (like lead and mercury) and certain substances found in processed foods (like trans fats, nitrates and certain preservatives) have long-term life-shortening effects on everyone.

Knowing this encourages us to move away from commercial drugs in favor of natural cures whenever available.

Understanding this now helps us to better care for our bodies. It helps us with inverse psoriasis and with treating ovarian cyst symptoms with great results.

Science marches on, bringing fresh understandings and hinting at completely new opportunities every single day. As research workers continue to unravel the secrets of how our body chemistry truly works, at the molecular level, our perspective and our capabilities to further improve and prolong a persons life are constantly increasing.
